Gearing up for the upcoming Krishna Pushkaralu next month, the Fire department has begun training its personnel along with those from the Fisheries Department and the Telangana State Special Police (TSSP). More than 600 fire fighters will be deployed along the ghats in Mahabubnagar and Nalgonda districts to ensure that there is no untoward incident during the event.
“Our men will mainly be deployed for patrolling the ghat areas during the day time. Fire fighters along with swimmers from the Fisheries Department underwent training at Lumbini Park on July 26 and 27,” said a senior official from the Fire Department. High-speed boats were also utilised as part of the training programme, he added. According to the official, a total of 647 personnel from the Fire Department, including firemen, drivers, station fire officers, district fire officers (DFO) and others from across Telangana will be deployed at the 28 ghats in the two districts, where devotees will go to worship Krishna river.
“The government has also released a budget of Rs.1 crore for the department to purchase equipment and other necessities,” he added.
Out of the 647 personnel, 370 firemen will be sent to Mahabubnagar district, while the remaining 270 will be posted in Nalgonda district. They will all work together will the local police, under directions of the District Superintendent of Police.
